North Somerset's motorists will have five road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.
And one of them is expected to cause severe delays – with drivers facing a holdup of at least 30 minutes. Another three will cause moderate delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.
The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures are due to start over the next two weeks:
• M5, from 10pm April 3 to 6am April 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 22 to 21 carriageway closure for electrical works, diversion via A38 and A370.
• M5, from 8pm April 5 to 6am April 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 20 entry slip road closure for barrier repairs, diversion via M5 southbound to junction 21 and return.
• M5, from 8pm April 8 to 6am April 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 20 to 19, lane closure for surveys.
• A4, from 8pm April 12 to 6am April 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 19 exit slip closed for surveys, diversion via, junction 18, St. Brendans roundabout and back.
• A4, from 9pm April 15 to 6am April 16, severe delays (more than 30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 21 to 18 - carriageway closure for electrical works, diversion from, junction 21 via A370, A4 Portway to re-join M5 at, junction 18, diversion from, junction 20 via M5 southbound, exit jct 21 and follow diversion, diversion from, junction 19 via A369, A4 to join M5 at, junction 18.
National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
