A care home in Frome has raised over £3,000 for Purple Elephant, a charity supporting local families in the region, through fundraising activities in 2024.
Residents and team members at Care UK’s Rossetti House, on Welshmill Lane, collectively raised a total of £2,262.77 through a series of fundraising activities throughout 2024. Keen to go the extra mile, Care UK contributed £1,000 to the final figure, boosting the total raised to £3,262.77.
The donations were raised for Purple Elephant, a charity based in Frome that was founded in 2015. The charity aims to provide support for disadvantaged families, ensuring all children have the same opportunities to learn and have fun through a series of team-building projects organised by volunteers.
The home kickstarted their fundraising efforts in May last year, with a sponsored 10-mile walk that 10 members of the care team took part in around the local community. This element of the fundraising raised £631 towards the overall total.
The rest of the money raised came from events held at Rossetti House. In June, the care home hosted its annual summer fete and open day, which was supported by the local community, residents and their families.
The fete was held in the garden at Rossetti House where guests were invited to join in with a raffle, tombola, hook the duck, ‘water or wine’, and the option to purchase various gifts at one of the stalls.
To round off a successful year of fundraising, the home also raised money at its Christmas fete, which featured craft stalls for the local community to browse, alongside a raffle and tombola with donated prizes, collected from residents’ family members and friends, and local businesses.
Phil Vale, general manager at Rossetti House, said: “Here at Rossetti House, we are committed to playing an active role in the community and are thrilled to have raised such a fantastic amount for a charity as vital as Purple Elephant.”
“The charity plays an important role in the Frome community, and we are proud to be able to support their work. I’d like to say a big thank you to all the team members, residents and relatives that contributed to our fundraising efforts— it truly is a wonderful achievement and a fantastic start to 2025 for Rossetti House.”
Sue Willis, service manager at Purple Elephant, said: “This is the difference between having the funding to run the Children’s Festival this year or not. We are so grateful for all the work Rossetti House have done to support us all year and now a wonderful amount of money has been raised to enable us to continue to reach families that need support.”
