IN a gesture aimed at connecting past, present, and future, Somer Valley House Care Home, part of Oyster Care Homes, buried a time capsule on September 30.
Somer Valley House is a new 66-bed care home in Midsomer Norton, scheduled to open this month. Operated by Oyster Care Homes, Somer Valley House is looking forward to offering high-quality, person-centred care in a homely setting”. Once up and running, Somer Valley House is expected to create over 100 jobs for the local economy.
The ceremony included a letter from Mrs. Waterhouse, Headmistress of Norton Hill Primary School, intended to be opened in 50 years.
Lauren Dinham, General Manager of Somer Valley House, stated: "We’re thrilled to be part of such a meaningful event. The time capsule not only celebrates the opening of our home but also highlights our commitment to building lasting relationships with the local community."
Set to open this month, the 66-bed facility will provide advanced care and sustainability features, including solar panels, a battery store capable of holding two days' worth of energy, and ground-source heating, reflecting Oyster Care Homes' commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions.
