MIDSOMER Norton Community Wind Band are keen to find new musical talent in the local area.
The Midsomer Norton Community Wind Band started back in 2017 with a group of 12 musicians rehearsing in a back room of ‘All Instruments’ music shop in Midsomer Norton. They have now grown to a wind band of 25 players of all ages, currently ranging from 10 to 76!
The group was founded in 2017 by Fiona Langley (retired Head of Music at Writhlington School) and instrumental music teachers Amanda Garland and Kath North. Playing all styles of music from popular and film to classical and jazz, they can now be found rehearsing weekly during term times at Midsomer Norton Town Hall (temporarily Orchard Vale Hall) on Tuesdays 4.30pm to 5.30pm and perform concerts throughout the year, including local events such as the Midsomer Norton Christmas Fayre and the Summer Fayre.
The band like to think of themselves as an “all-inclusive community group” where the main aim is to make music, make friends and have fun. The band is a great outlet and opportunity for musicians of all ages and abilities, the standard of musical ability within the group ranges from grade 3 to grade 8 and the group is always on the lookout for new musicians.
So dust off that old wind instrument, see if you can still play it and come and join us!
