THE weather interferred with the Captains’ Drive In at Wells Golf Club as only 15 holes were open. However, all 22 teams enjoyed the competition with a shotgun start.
Players and spectators gathered at the first Tee to watch Lewis Wickham (Juniors’ Captain), Philippa Gowen (Ladies’ Captain), Simon Harris (Seniors’ Captain) and Tina Davies (Club Captain), drive off. Three captains had good drives and the nerveless Junior Captain hit a magnificent long drive straight up the fairway.
A great team of volunteers from across the club helped the captains with registration of competitors, Mulligan collection, score card verification, and earlier fund raising. A sum of £600 was raised towards the club irrigation fund.
