The Ladies Alliance B Team met a heavy defeat when visiting Filton with just one win from new member Jane Ball.. There was better luck in the Bristol & District Handicap Foursomes when Edwina Willis and Jo Espley had a fine win over their opponents from Wells and in the Daily Mail Foursomes Jenny Merrett and Lyn Jones were successful in their match v Wheathill. And finally the Inter Club team had an excellent win in horrendous weather against Enmore 6-1 with wins for Carol King, Jane Ball, Fiona Hassard, Anita Butcher, Louise Scott and Gina Howard, a particular well done to Gina who was giving 11 shots to her opponent.
104 Seniors supported the Drive In event to mark the start of the new Mendip Seniors Captain Tony Scott’s year. Held as a Shot Gun Texas Scramble this ensured that the Clubhouse was very full for the post event Ceremonies. The Competition was won by Paul Ashman/Nigel Cheshire/Keith Gadsden/Norman Squire with a net 57 with Chris Lindley/Nick Parfitt/Ian Perkins/Ken Webster 2nd with the best of 3 x 38 scores. In fact only 3 shots covered the top 11 Teams.
The Seniors Avalon Team recorded a further win, this time 3½-1½ against Wheathill with wins coming from Simon Brand/Nigel Brokenshire, Gary Quin/Paul Godwin and Team Captain David Braithwaite/Kevin Carmody with Steve Davis/John Stembridge gaining a half.
The Seniors Friendly Team went down to a surprising 2-4 home defeat to Cumberwell who despite having a Membership approaching 2,000 on their multiple courses were only able to raise 6 pairs instead of the normal 7 pairs. Winning for Mendip were Ken Langridge/Paul Godwin and Paul Wood/Derek Bellew.
And lastly outgoing Ladies Captain Aimee Sawyer celebrated a memorable 30th birthday by welcoming to Mendip Kate Naish the CEO of the Katie Piper Foundation who came all the way from Nottingham. The trip was well worthwhile for her as Aimee presented her with a cheque for just £21 short of £13,000 raised during her Captaincy. As everyone knows the Foundation gave so much support to Aimee during the dark days following her life threatening accident and continue supporting her 3 year later. Aimee has worked so hard to repay them and what a fantastic result for the Foundation. Aimee has been overwhelmed by the support she has received from the Club Members,
