Our excellent run in the Tony Allcock Competition (Mixed Two Fours) came to an end at Crediton, with one rink drawing and the other losing and so Purnell just missed out appearing in the National Quarter-Finals at Leamington Spa.
We did, however, have one representative at Leamington in the Senior Singles, Terry Priddle, who did exceptionally well, winning two games to reach the Quarter-Finals only to lose a very close game 21–19 to the eventual winner.
Terry also appeared in the County Finals at Chew Stoke, once again just
falling short of a trophy. Also appearing in the Semi-Finals were Sally Dart (Purnell) and Aaron Delamont (Norwest) in the Mixed pairs who won their Semi but unfortunately lost in the Final.
Our outdoor season is fast coming to an end. Our Ladies have a few fixtures left, but the Men’s fixtures finish this week.
Our last game is against Frome in the Charity Final at Purnell under lights and the Club Finals are on 25th/26th of September. Good luck to all participants!
Purnell indoors season starts on Monday, 27th September. There are still some vacancies in one or two leagues. If you are interested, please contact John Hansford (01761 415957). D. Dart
