Camerton and Peasedown Croquet Club (CPCC) look back on a successful summer campaign as they look forward to the winter months.

The club entered seven teams into the South Western Federation Leagues, which included a mix of experienced and relatively new players.

This summer season saw success for CPCC’s Short Croquet team, which won division four of the Federation’s Autumn Short Croquet tournament, while the CPCC ‘A’ Handicap team won their division for the first time.

A number of internal club croquet tournaments were held over the summer in a variety of different disciplines, with a mix of singles and doubles, played at both handicap and open play.

Individual success also came to players at CPCC, with the pairing of Andy Loakes and Colin Britt were placed in equal third at in the 2024 National Doubles Championship in July. The pair also represented Somerset when the won Division 1 in the Inter-County Championship in August.

Later, Britt was accepted to join Croquet England’s prestigious ‘Eights’ competition, where he would win the plate.

The club are now making adjustments to begin winter play, with the lawns reconfigured and hoops reset, whilst also opening up free taster sessions for all who want to try.
