SEPTEMBER marked the return of rugby to the valley as Chew Valley RFC kicked off its new season.

The senior teams have faced a challenging start, with no wins recorded yet, and the Ladies’ team earning a hard-fought draw. On a brighter note, Sunday morning sees the juniors back in training, sporting brand-new sponsored kits.

On Septembe 14, the club hosted a special event to celebrate the season launch. The day featured "Ladies’ Day" on the Porges Balcony, where the women enjoyed prime views of both matches while indulging in homemade cakes and sandwiches.

Entertainment was provided by the lively Jamma De Samba band, sponsored by Clear Vision Consultancy, who performed both before and after the game, adding a festive touch to the day. Staffline UK, a new club sponsor, was the weekend’s main supporter.

The Ladies played out an exciting 31-31 draw with Melksham Ladies, capping off a weekend of spirited rugby.

On Saturday, October 5th, the club will be open from 1 p.m. for the Bath vs. Bristol game, which will be shown live. There will be a happy hour prices on the bar, along with a curry meal available for purchase. Before the big game, spectators can enjoy a touch rugby match featuring the U15s and U16s teams. And don’t miss the annual Chew Valley RFC Fireworks Display, taking place on Friday, November 1st. Gates open at 6 p.m., with the display starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are priced at £8 for adults, £5 for under-16s, or £22 for a family ticket.
