NEW Zealand International seamer Matt Henry’s return to Somerset has been delayed after the 33-year-old was ruled out of the Black Caps’ current ODI series against Pakistan.

He is currently undergoing a phased rehabilitation programme with the New Zealand Sports Science & Medicine team as he looks to return to full fitness.

When Henry was with Somerset in 2023 he played a crucial part in helping the Cidermen lift the Vitality Blast T20 Trophy. During the campaign he was Somerset’s leading wicket taker with claimed 31 at a miserly 13.26, in addition to which he took 32 wickets in the championship at 16.19.

SCCC Director of Cricke, Andy Hurry said: “Obviously, this is frustrating news for Matt as well as Somerset supporters who were looking forward to seeing Matt again.

“Matt’s health, fitness and wellbeing are everyone’s priority, and we will continue to connect and collaborate with all parties over the next few weeks.
