THE Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club celebrated another enjoyable season with a Presentation Lunch..
Seniors secretary Alan Jones the season had been a good one for the social team with five wins , one defeat and one halved match. He thanked Paul Trigg for organising the away day and two Society days. Sadly two regular opponents Cannington and Folke have withdrawn from fixtures although fixture secretary Howard Nowell has arranged matches with two new clubs, Henstridge and Tickenham.
The player of the year award for the Roger Tabb Trophy went to Malcolm Tucker who won the Rupert Moore Championship and the Eric Jones Cup for the best nett summer eclectic.
In addition he won the Guerwyn Thomas Cup with Graham Edgell, the Smith and Broadway Cup alongside George Thurston, the Stan Brown Trophy with Martyn Cuer, the Groundsman’s Trophy together with Shaun Goodwin and the Committee Cup with Brian Phelps.
Pat Cray again featured prominently, winning the Mark Bridges Cup and the Captain’s Trophy and the Fouracres Trophy alongside Chris Appleton who himself won the Ted Cottle Cup and the Fosseway Seniors Trophy for the best summer eclectic gross score.
The Nick Foxwell Memorial Trophy was won by Rex Wyatt who also claimed the Colin Eaton Vase while Alan Jones and Elaine Winsley combined to lift the Joe Hawkins Mixed Puttsomes Cup.
