CONSIDERING the weather, an amazing 107 competed in Mendip Golf Club’s weekend Stableford.
Div 1 went to James White with 36 points on count back from Dan Owen. 3rd was Lee Swain with 33 on count back from Sam Reilly and Jack Cook. Div 2 was won by James Pitchell with 35, Simon Grant was 2nd with 34 and Darren Phelps was 3rd with 32 after count back from Steve Antel. Div 3 saw a win for new member Kyle Sheppard with 37, Nigel Coleman was 2nd with 33 after count back from Craig Drew and Clive Down.
41 Ladies played in the 18 hole Qualifying Stableford which saw a win in Div 1 for Ladies Captain Aimee Sawyer with 34 points (an excellent score in the conditions playing off +3). Lynne Vowles was 2nd with 33, Carol King was 3rd with 32 and Fran Davies was 4th with 29. Div 2 went to Fiona Hassard with 33, Jean Padfield was 2nd with 28 and Edwina Willis was 3rd with the best of the 5 x 26’s. Div 3 saw the best score of the day from Annette Jobbins with 35, Lizzie Wood was 2nd with 32 and Elaine Davidson was 3rd with 29. A further 12 Ladies played in the the 9 hole event with Caroline Simper recording the best score of 15 points with Margaret Hawker 2nd with 14 after count back from young junior member Harper Howerd and Chris Olds.
86 Seniors played in the first of the seasons qualifying stablefords. Div 3 was won by Farquhar Ogilvie with 37 points, Nigel Jarvis was 2nd with 35 and Peter Rumming was 3rd with 34. Div 2 went to Gareth Collier with a fine 39 points, Andy Griffiths was 2nd with 35 and Tony Scott was 3rd with 33. Div 1 was won by Mike Merrick with the best score of the day with 41 points (Mike certainly had his putting boots on!), 2nd was Chris White with 40 and Martin Myers was 3rd with 37.
The Mixed Bowmaker event saw a good entry with Winners being Alan and Alison Kay, new Mens Captain Elect Jack Hayes and Julie Doyle with 68 points winning on count back from Peter and Allison Rumming, Tony Logan and Suzy Rudkin. Pauline and Alan Williams and Derek Padley and the incoming Ladies Captain Ann Padley were 3rd with 67 points.
Nearest the Pin Competitions were won by Clayton Merrett..
