An excellent 5-0 win by Mendip Golf Club Men’s Avalon A Team when visiting Burnham & Berrow puts them back on top of their league.

Wins came from Ryan Sainsbury/Dani Annable, Tom Chapman/Tom Black, Dan Allen/Spencer Pocock, Rob Edney/Paul Lewis and Phil Leadbeater/Brian Rawlings.

The Men’s Avalon B team found the home side too strong when visiting Cricket St Thomas, with just a half to show for their efforts. That came from from Liam Robertson/Mark Necker who fought back from four down with four to play.

The Ladies  Alliance B team visited Weston and gained just one win from Jenny Merrett.

The Seniors Team lost out to Weston in the semi finals of the Somerset Scratch KO 1-4 with halves gained by Chris Lindley and Mark Necker.

The Ladies Stableford qualifier had a fine field of forty four competitors. Division One saw a triple tie on thirty seven points which after countback left Suzy Rudkin as the winner with Elaine P Richardson second and Connie Cox third. Division Two went to Penny Oliver with thirty eight, Ann Padley was second with thirty seven. 

Division Three saw an excellent score of forty two from new to the game Rebecca Edwards which will see another handicap cut, with Ann Collins second with thirty three.

Nearest the Pin went to Gary Quin.

The Seniors had two good wins this week. Firstly they overcame Long Ashton 6-2 with wins from Roland Greenaway/Martin Sutherland, John Ellis/Phil Brocks, Stephen Cox/Graham Bingham, Andy Griffiths/John Brooksbank, Nick Carter/Tony Scott and Paul Wood/John Scott. They followed this up with a 4-1 win over West Wilts, wins from Gary Quin / Rob Richardson, John Stembridge/Paul Godwin, Ian Whittamore/Robert Miller and Ken Langridge/John Scott.
