IN THEIR latest Junior League fixture, Mendip Golf Club came 2nd behind Burnham & Berrow with points contributed by Connie Cox, Grant Jeffrey and Liberty Warman.

The Seniors beat Knowle 5-2 with wins from Bryan Lewis/Malcolm Dawkins, Tony Scott/Simon Atkinson, Gary Quin/Ken Langridge, Shaun Rich/Selwyn Rees and Roland Greenway/John Scott. The Seniors Avalon team just missed out on promotion this year by just half a point.

A full field of 100-plus golfers played in Mendip’s Seniors Open - the Seniors Mendip Vase event. Fast greens and a strong westerly wind made playing conditions very tricky as reflected by the scoring.

Winning the event with just 38 points was Steve Coles from Orchardleigh. There were 3 prizes in each of three divisions for both members and those visiting from other clubs. The three divisional winners for the visitors came from Broadstone, Saltford and Tall Pines with the three winning members prizes going to Simon Grant with 37, John Parham with 35 and Robert Miller with 38 who just missed out on the Trophy on count back. Tony Williams did well with 34 to retain the Over 80s Trophy.
