A quiet week at Purnell but not without its highs and lows. Our County triples team of Carol Jenner-Timms, Terry Priddle and Jim Towels won their quarter final game against Chew Stoke and go to the semi-finals at Ilminster on 10th September, good luck to them.
Tuesday saw our ladies travel to Bath but came away empty handed. Friday saw our final game in the Mixed MSL at home to Weston Bath with Purnell coming out on top in a close fought game winning two rinks to one. On Saturday, we played the inaugural game of the Purnell Memorial cup in memory of all our players who have sadly passed. Ten teams took part in a fun atmosphere with some in fancy dress. The eventual winners were Chris and Sylvia Ponting, Ian Williams and Andy Matthews.
A huge thank you to Sue Trimi for organising the order of play and Angie Cruickshank and all her little helpers for the awesome bar-b-q afterwards making it a truly remarkable day.
