CHEW Valley chalked up their fourth successive rugby victory when they beat Marlborough 22-5 at home in Regional One South West.
Although they remain second from bottom in the table, Valley are now only three points behind Marlborough, with both teams having played the same number of matches.
Valley have not lost a game since theyslumped 58-12 away to leaders Brixham at the beginning of the New Year.
Meanwhile, Brixham maintained their one-point lead at the top of the table with a 22-12 home success against Lydney while second-placed Barnstaple kept up the pressure with a 26-12 victory at home to Matson.
Results: Barnstaple 26, Matson 12; Brixham 22, Lydney 12; Chew Valley 22, Marlborough 5; Exmouth 71, Ivybridge 7; St Austell 19, Royal Wootton Bassett 27.
The only match being played in the division this coming weekend is between Launceston and Sidmouth.
Valley return to action the following Saturday when they play away to Lydney who are ninth.
