FROME Skatepark Project, a community group raising funds for a new skatepark in the town, is hosting a Skate Jam at Victoria Park.

The event, organised with Frome Town Council, will start a public consultation at Victoria Park and invites local residents to share their ideas for the space on Saturday, September 28.

Frome Town Council staff will be available to speak with park users and there will be garden games and fun activities to keep children entertained while people discuss their ideas.

Further activities are planned in Victoria Park as part of the consultation but details are yet to be confirmed.

The event aims to provide a day of excitement and fun for the whole family, with best trick competitions and music. It is open to all wheeled sports enthusiasts, including skateboarders, roller skaters, scooter riders, and BMX bikers.

The Skate Jam is open to participants of all ages and skill levels, encouraging involvement from both experienced individuals and beginners.

Ed Bucklow, 18, one of the founders of Frome Skatepark Project, said: “Frome is in desperate need of a new skatepark, and we can’t wait to canvas opinion on our proposals for Frome skatepark from Frome’s wheeled sports community.

“The skate jam promises to be a great day, and I encourage everyone who uses the park, or wants to see the facilities improved to come along, have some fun – and most importantly - have your say.”
