A group has been distributing hedgehog boxes through the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership.

MSN Men’s Shed have made 16 boxes to be sent out to various schools as part of this programme, where they have been placed in nature or forest areas, with pupils guided and encouraged by the teaching staff to learn more about hedgehogs and local wildlife.

The materials and paint for the hedgehog boxes were provided by Wickes and Protek.

MSN Men’s Shed have, also recently made three welly boot stands for Hemington Primary School, who were very thankful to receive them.

The school said: “Hemington Primary School would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the MSN Men’s Shed for their incredible work in crafting three new welly boot stands for our school. Their dedication, skill, and community spirit have made a real difference in our school environment.

“The MSN Men’s Shed is a fantastic local organisation that brings people together to work on projects that benefit the community, and we are thrilled to have had their support. On behalf of the staff, students, and parents of Hemington Primary School, thank you for your hard work and generosity.”

MSN Men’s Shed was first formed and established in 2018, located in Farrington Gurney. Their membership has grown to over 30 members, having just started with four men.

However, they are currently having to operate a waiting list for prospective new members due to capacity and insurance issues.

Among those in the group are those with age and health related issues, with MSN Men’s Shed being a good opportunity for them to be able to talk to other members and make new friends.

Men’s Shed said they “feel privileged to be able to work with and be part of such a warm and friendly local community.”
