The inaugural Community Radio Awards – taking place on 10th September at Birmingham City University – will be hosted by Dom Chambers, Station Manager at Somer Valley FM, the community radio station based in Midsomer Norton.

The Awards will celebrate, champion and promote the amazing work of community radio throughout the UK. With 235 nominations received for sixteen categories, including Somer Valley's own Sports Show shortlisted for an award, organisers are pleased with how the awards are engaging community broadcasters.

Dom said: “I am delighted to be hosting the first community radio awards. This is not about winners and losers, but an opportunity to showcase the fantastic work achieved on an hourly basis by community broadcasters in the UK. I first encouraged Martin (Steers, Chair and organiser of the Awards) to develop his ideas with the support of the CMA over two years ago, so it is wonderful to see his efforts come to fruition. I very much look forward to working with him on what I know will be a great celebration.”
