ON A lovely sunny but somewhat humid afternoon, members gathered at Norwest for the annual Monica Trophy competition.
There were 20 bowlers along with their supporters for the game. It’s a two bowls, round robin competition with players being divided into groups of four who then have to play each other.
The group winners, along with the three runners up. then go to the quarter final, semis and then the final.
The competition was stiff but the rivalry was friendly with much banter and lots of laughs, both on and off the green. It was nice to see the ‘new boy’ John Scott join us for the first time in one of our club games.
Our two youngest members, Chloe and Jack, made it through to the semi finals showing us oldies a thing or two, but experience won out and they were just pipped at the post, leaving Steve Tyler and Martin Tincknell to compete in the final. Our eventual winner was Martin.
Unfortunately, our president Merv, couldn’t make it as he was unwell. In his absence Kath, our Vice President, thanked Nora and Brian for organising the game and Paul, our barman, for supplying the much needed refreshments.
