SOMERSET County Cricket have signed Rebecca Odgers, a 21 year old batter, on a one-year rookie contract.

The batter came though the Cornwall Pathway system and made her debut for the Duchy in 2018, scoring her maiden List A century in her second game.

Rebecca joined Western Storm’s South West Regional Development Centre ahead of the 2019 season and represented England Academy that summer. She made her first appearance for Somerset Women in July of that year.

The University of Exeter student, who hails from St Austell, made her Storm debut in 2023 against Central Sparks in the Charlotte Edwards Cup.

Rebecca has represented Cornwall on 42 occasions in white-ball cricket, scoring over 800 runs with a best of 122.

After signing for Somerset, she said: “I’m unbelievably excited because this is something I’ve been working hard towards for a number of years. When I was growing up my dream was to play professional cricket and the way the game has developed means the door is now open for women like mel.

“As a group we feel a huge sense of pride to be a part of the first Somerset team and we want to make it go from strength to strength and help develop the game across the region.”
