WELTON Rovers put up a spirited display before losing 1-0 away to seventh-placed Shepton Mallet in the Premier Division of the Jewson Western League on Good Friday.

It was their 35th loss in 37 matches - but there were more than encouraging signs from this performance.

Clevedon Town’s slim hopes of winning the championship were dashed when they went down 1-0 at home to Nailsea & Tickenham.

In the North Devon derby, lowly Ilfracombe Town pulled off a surprise 3-0 away victory over Barnstaple Town.
