WELTON Rovers gained only their fourth point of the season in the Premier Division of the Jewson Western Football League when they drew 1-1 at home to Barnstaple Town.

In a feisty encounter, there was no score in the first half with referee Marsh busy booking three players, two of Rovers, as the game threatened to boil over.

The second half began in lively fashion and after only a couple of of minutes Welton’s Rohan Neilson was subject to a very hard challenge on the halfway line and he couldn’t continue after treatment and was replaced by Arian Askari.

Eventually Josh Roddy, on a charge, volleyed home past keeper Weeks to give Welton the lead. However Welton’s moment of glory was short lived as a mix up at the back allowed Josh Parry to pick up on the loose ball and he calmly slotted the ball past Smith to equalise for the visitors.
