A good field competed for the Men’s Captains Trophy, a better ball pairs event for Mendip Golf Club. With scoring improving now better weather is being seen, Brian Say/John Hargraves with a net 64 were third after countback, losing out to James Richards/ James Pitchell. 

However, with an excellent net 61, the clear winners were the father and son combination of John and Andrew Shakesby. 

The Avalon A Team away to Burnham put up a fine performance just losing out 2-3. David Jukes/Jordan Vaughan secured a win with Dan Allen/Spencer Pocock and Tom Chapman/Lee Britten gaining halves.

The Ladies Alliance Teams have had a good week. The A Team gained a fine half when visiting Wells with wins for Ladies Captain Aimee Sawyer, Edwina Willis and Jan Fukuyama with a half gained by new team member Ann Lofts, playing the course for the first time. 

The B Team welcomed Saltford and gained a fine 11-3 win. Wins came from Jenny Merrett, Edwina Willis, Lynn Cox and Anne Hopkins with Chris Olds securing a half. 

The Ladies ICL team did not fare so well, going down 2-5 when visiting Mendip Spring. Good wins though from Suzy Rudkin and Louise Scott.

The Seniors visited Knowle and lost 2.5 - 4.5. Tony Scott/Paul Wood won their match and Shaun Rich/Selwyn Rees, Steve Davis/Ken Langridge and John Ellis/Simon Atkinson all gained halves.

Ninety two seniors supported the Seniors Captains Charity Day playing in the Four Man Texas Scramble event. 

In third place were Simon Grant/Paul Reakes/Chris White/Nicholas White being the best of six teams, all of whom scored a net 56! 

In second place came Andrew Ashman/Philip Bendall/Colin Davies/Stephen Smith with 55 but clear winners with a net 52 were Andrew Cadman/Antony George/Andy Griffiths/Andy Humphries.
