THE annual presentation of the Radstock & District Pool League has taken place.
It was held at Westhill Sports and Social Club and the committee would like to express their thanks to the club for hosting it, and also for allowing the league to use the venue for the meetings throughout the season.
Thanks go to Mike Moon who did a sterling job as photographer for the evening, standing in at short notice for John Newport who was unable to attend, Also to Terry and Annette for providing a lovely buffet.
A new name adorns the Division One winners trophy as The Shed Potters became champions for the first time, finishing ahead of Westhill Club B who were runners up for a second year.
Last year’s champions Railway Radstock finished third this time around. In Division Two, the champions were The Star Inn with runners up being the Wishful Thinkers. Third place went to Midsomer Norton Cricket Club.
The Team Knockout Cup was won by Railway, Radstock and the Team Knockout Plate went to The Shed Potters.
Gary Bullocke was singles champion again, having last won it 26 years ago in 1998. The pairs competition was won by Josh Buton and Jessy Cook while the Over 50s competition saw long serving league members Simon Wilkinson and Steve Woodham battle things out in the final with Simon coming out on top.
The ladies competition was won by last year’s runner up Anthea Ravensdale who beat her team mate Kirsty Hayes from the Knatchbull Bombers in the final. The Under 21s competition was won by Josh Singtothong who has won the competition three times previously in either it’s under 21, under 18 or under 16 format.
The Captains Cup was retained by George Chubb (Rovers Return) for a second year. Division One and overall Player of the Year was Steve Woodham (Westhill Club B), again for a second year and Division Two Player of the Year was Sam Gould (Knatchbull Bombers).
The full list of winners is as follows: Division One – 1) The Shed Potters, 2) Westhill Club B, 3) Welton Rovers. Division Two – 1) Star Inn, 2) Wishful Thinkers, 3) Midsomer Norton Cricket Club. Also promoted, Riverside who finished fourth.Team Knockout Cup – 1) Railway, Radstock, 2) Shed A. Team Knockout Plate – 1) The Shed Potters, 2) Westhill Sports.
