TIMSBURY came out second best in their top of the table clash away to Golden Hill 2nd XI in  the Bristol and District League Division 1 and now lead the Bristol side by just one point. .

Timsbury were always up against it after the home side had posted 243-5 from just 35 overs. The chief damage was done by the experienced John Colley who struck 9 sixes and 7 fours in a superb undefeated century. None of the visitor’s attack could tie him down and his stand of 120 for the fifth wicket with Norris who contributed 20 set up the imposing target.

Timsbury made a good fist of the challenge and at 97-2 with Lew Redwood and Jack Williams going well were very much in the match. The dismissal in quick succession of Willams for 22 and Redwood for an impressive 63 put the visitors on the back foot, however, and despite a lively knock of 37 from skipper Jesse Bishop and a late flourish from Liam Hosford and Sam Hoddinott Timsbury finished well short. Their total of 202-9 at least gave them seven bonus points and there is still everything to play for.

Timsbury’s second and third  eleven matches were both cancelled after the heavy overnight rain.
