A noticeable improvement in our weather has resulted in much improved playing conditions on both the 18 hole Duchy and 9 hole Par 3 Manor courses.
Even though the main course was closed for a number of days in January, the Manor course remained open throughout with many members keeping their game in shape.
This week’s competition was a non qualifying Stableford from the green tees with seventy one Senior golfers taking part.
In Division One Andy Snook took the honours with thirty eight points with a better back six holes than Dave Brain also with thirty eight points. Rob Thain was third on thirty six points just pipping Dave Harvey into fourth place with thirty five points. In fifth and sixth position were Bob Baker and Steve Hobbs respectively on thirty four points.
Division Two saw captain Alan Smith playing in his penultimate non qualifier before handing over the reins as captain, win with thirty six points from Jim ‘some say lucky’ Farmer with thirty four points. Third place went to Steve Brixey on thirty three points with John Fisher one point behind.
Division Three honours went to Andrew Smith matching his thirty seven handicap with thirty seven points. In form Laurence Barlow secured second place with thirty four with a tussle for the remaining places with Charlie Bentley, Steve Gay, Andy Smart and Geoff Clare all on thirty three points.
There were only four people sharing the 2s pot, Andy’s Roper and Snook and Steve’s Hobbs and Gay.
