Mendip’s Mens Avalon B team halved their recent match at home to Wheathill.
Simon Wynn/Charles Whitaker and Cliff Hall/Rich Clifford recorded wins and Andy Walton/Liam Robertson gained a half. They followed this up with a win over Cricket St Thomas 3½-1½.This time wins came from Mark Necker/Andy Wells, Tom Rowland/Jeremy Lawrence and Liam Robertson/Andy Walton with Rich Clifford/Cliff Hall gaining a half.
When I reported Ladies Captain Aimee Sawyer scoring thirty nine points in the weekend stableford last week I had not realised that this was yet another course record for the Ladies, beating the one recently set by Aimee in the Club Championships. Yet again well done Aimee, you are an inspiration to all.
The Ladies Competition was hit by severe weather reducing the field. However some brave ladies still went out, and the winning team was Margaret Allen/Margaret Hawker/Annette Jobbins/Debbie Godwin with eighty eight points. Anne Collins/Diane Stanton/Dee Garnsworthy/Karen Cookson were second with eighty three. The Ladies final ICL league match resulted in a win for Mendip over Enmore 5-2. Successful for Mendip were Lynn Cox, Alison Kay, Lilian Peel, Louise Scott and Gina Howard.
The Seniors Kings Coronation Salver event saw ninety four entrants playing in glorious weather on a course which looked and played superbly following the recent bad weather and the scores reflected this with thirty two players returning par or better scores. Martin Myers won Diviaion One with forty three points from Nicholas White thirty seven points, beating David Jukes on countback.
Division Two was won by Paul Wood with forty three from Tony Scott forty one who beat Andy Neeve on countback.
Division Three went to James Blackstock with forty one with Ian Vincent second with thirty eight beating John Mitchard on countback. However the winner was Paul Wood who beat Martin Myers on countback. Well done Paul.
The Seniors Avalon Team won their final match against Oake thus gaining promotion. Well done to David Braithwaite and his team.
The Seniors friendly team beat visitors Bath 4-2 with wins from Robert Miller/Alan Edwards, Andy Frampton/Rob Richardson, Tony Scott/Tony George and Colin Davies/David Pilbeam.
Nearest the Pin was won by Alexander Leonard with George Beer second.
The Mixed Team gained a hard fought for win over Long Ashton 3½-1½ on a rare sunny day. Wins for Team Captain Ann Padley and husband Derek, Pippa Brown/Clive Copp and Rebecca and Alan Edwards with a half gained by Sue and Rob Needham.
