The Ladies section at Orchardleigh Golf Club have played their first fun competition of the new season.
On Tuesday 21st February the Lady Captain, Loes de Kleuver organised a nine hole Bowmaker competition for Pancake Day.
Twenty four ladies joined in the golf going out in teams of three with the two best scores to count.
Although the day started rather damp and drizzly, the sun did shine later on. The course is in quite good condition now despite all the rain that fell in January, so the players were able to have a very pleasant and enjoyable round. Loes de Kleuver presented the prizes to the winning teams. Lorraine Collings, Sue Sweet and Catherine Szabo came in with the most stableford points scoring thirty two and in second place with thirty one were Christine Arnold, Mary Ford and Liz Attenborough.
There was a booby prize too which went to Molly Carey and Carol Marquiss, who were a team of two rather than three, so they did well to get the points they did and won some chocolates to enjoy for their efforts.
As it was Shrove Tuesday, after the golf everyone enjoyed some delicious pancakes in the clubhouse.
The ladies were even joined by some friends who didn’t play golf to enjoy an indulgent treat.
