THE headlines at Mendip Golf Club this week have to go to the club’s Avalon B team. With a much changed squad this season, team captain Tom Rowland was delighted to report their first win of the season when beating Wheathill convincingly 4-1.
Those successful for the Mendip team were Craig Robertson/Stephen Ledger, Charles Roberts/Jack Harrington, Kieran & Colin Wiltshire and Tom Rowland/Williams Burns. The Avalon C team also beat a Wheathill Team 4-1 with wins from Scott & Chris Butland, Malcolm Srawley/Joe Cox, Gary Quin/Clive Copp and Michal Rokitowski/Jon Cox. Nearest the Pin this week went to Dan Rowe. The Ladies Reid Trophy saw an outstanding score of 45 points from the winner Pippa Brown which will surely trigger a handicap reduction! The Ladies 9 hole Stableford competiton went to Elaine Richardson with 21 points after count back from Joan Clark with youngster Harper Howerd 3rd with 20.
